The mystery deepens – West Sirius moved out of Macondo Site

Three days after posting the “A New Drilling Rig At Macondo Site” on 31 Oct 2010, the West Sirius moved out of the Macondo Site on the morning of 2 Nov 2010. See figure 131-a. West Sirius is currently sitting at location Lon/Lat: -90.022827 / 28.582331 on 11/5/2010 3:07:39 AM (UTC). Why would BP move the West Sirius to the Macondo site in late October only to move out a week later to a location 165 km away? This is not normal. A multimillion dollar rig does not just drop by at the site just to say “hello” to the DD2.

Even stranger, DD3 is no longer in existence. Three days ago, you can still search for DD3’s location http://www.marinetraffic.com but not any more. DD3’s position seems to have gone “under cover”. However, it seems that DD3 has gone back to Relief Well C position.

As at 4th Nov 2010, DD2 is at Well A with the Hos Iron Horse nearby. Discoverer Enterprise is still at the foothill of the shelf edge, 7 miles NW of well A where DD3 was working since leaving Relief Well C in late Sept.

So what is going on at the Macondo’s site?

Live feeds from the Gulf of Mexico ROVs

The MC 252 well has been shut in since July 15 and therefore activity among the remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) near the seabed is now limited.

This is what BP says since 15 July and from 20 Sept onwards, only one ROV is live. Yet there is much activities going on at the Macondo Site. Why have 3 expensive drilling rigs at location if there is no drilling? Doesn't make sense.

BP is operating as if the whole gulf belongs to BP.

Relief wells aren't finished yet according to this and an article from New York times.

"Wed Nov 3, 2010 1:06am EDT

* BP Plc (BP.L) said Tuesday that it had set aside an additional $7.7 billion for expenses related to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, mainly because of a delay in the completion of the relief well that permanently sealed the leak."

PR stunt continues

It came to mind that maybe West Sirius was used temporarily because they were doing something precarious and needed something as a standby - just in case.

There are cheaper vessels to do whatever standby they need. West Sirius is a new rig delivered in 2008. A multimillion rig is not something you move here and there. Every move costs money lots of them.

Don't know if you saw the article I posted stated BP has set aside 7.7 Billion dollars to complete macondo.

That is an awful lot of money for just wrapping up activities.

No Eth I did not see that in your column. Where did you post that? Would like to read it. Umm.... interesting to spend 7.7 billion. You are right. That would be 770,000,000 barrels of oil at 77/barrel. With that kind of money it looks more like exploitation than wrapping up activities.

What these crooked managers say cannot be trusted. You have to see what they actually do to to know what they are after. The proof is in the eating / pudding.

BP is still trying to contain the leak. If you want to see the cracks around the well head.

This morning at 2 am they removed the BOP to do some cement job.

Well, I certainly have no idea what their doing, but I'm relatively sure I wouldn't like the answer if I knew it. If you figure it out, please post it. Thanks BK!

I will etva but there are just too many things to tell. From current problems they are having now, which prove the earlier concerns were spot on, to the future concerns which the late Matt Simmons seemed to be spot on as well. How did he know so many things so accurately? It is taking me months to decipher yet he knew soon after the disaster. That could only mean BP knew. It is like the lemmings jumping to their death over the cliff. Are we just mindless lemmings?

With Matt Simmons revelations about gulf spill proven thus far, wonder what the ramifications are if he was also correct about the pressure at the bottom of the well being in excess of 100,000psi?

I have heard this from several sources. Don't know where they got their info from.

Also remember the testimony of the few who should know - 30K (probably more).

Eth, we must not forget the volume. Pressure without volume is less devastating than high volume with less pressure.

Danese, unfortunate the investigation commission agrees 90% with BP's findings. How sad to blame it all on the 11 dead persons.
