According to reports late last night in the Financial Times, Hayward has been involved in discussions about the launch of an investment fund with Nat Rothschild, the well-regarded financier. Rothschild already runs a London-listed natural resources acquisition vehicle fund, Vallar, which has opened up 2.8% on the day at 1321p.

Hayward is also said to be in early stage talks with Julian Meherell, who recently quit his post as head of UK investment banking at Goldman Sachs.
