The biggest lie in the BP's Macondo Blowout incident has been BP's claim that the BOP was largely intact on well A after the second submarine explosion on 22April 2010. Like many of the late Matt Simmons' assertions, the BOP could not have been left standing on well A. Not with a highly twisted 5,000ft long riser left standing 1,500ft above the seabed (mapped by NOAA). It is just physically impossible. Many discrepancies were raised and analysed in my forensic analysis of the Deepwater Horizon wreckage (DWH blowout CSI: Why-it-could-not-have-happened-as-reported-by-BP ) in July 2010. See the video presentations in the next posting.
Figure 158-1 to 2 show a series of pictures extracted from the video on the suspended BOP on 16 July 2010. But Mr BeePee (an incredible man who had meticulously recorded the rov videos since BP started streaming live the rov data) wrote that he had observed the BOP stack been suspended above the seabed for at least 13 days since 3 July 2010.
But did BP not say the BOP could not be removed from well A for fear of aggravating the blown well condition? Did BP not say that the BOP was intact on well A until its removal in Sept 2010? Did BP not deny Simmons' assertion that the BOP was blown off the wellhead and was found lying on the seafloor?
This evidence brings to question whether BP had installed another BOP on well A since June 2010. Was this the reason the company logo and name on the new BP was permanently wiped off?
BP Clean off Co Logo on BOP – why? - on 9 June 2010.
In this narrated clip the ROV (remotely operated vehicle) is using the wire brush hydraulic tool to believe it or not remove the company logo (Oil States International Inc.- FlexJoint) plastered on the side of a part at the top of the damaged BOP (blowout preventer). Weird I just said that a few hours ago when I saw them getting this tool out, while joking. Don't they have better things to do.
Simple lies are easily detected as soon as they are uttered. Slightly distorted lies backed by well-orchestrated magic shows are modern designs of Mass Deception with sinister agenda. This Mass Deception however, could not have been propagated for so long without the willful blindness and subservient participation of the leading MSM.
Like billions all over the world, we have all been immersed in our studies, work and daily chores of survival and bringing up our families with little time left to research into the credibility of the news that beamed in to our daily lives through our TV's, radios and internet devices via established mainstream media like CNN, BBC, Bloomberg, Fox News, Reuters and countless others. If 20 of these trusted channels report the same news, it has got to be true, right? Therein lies our collective mass vulnerability; the vulnerability of the populace to be manipulated by seemingly “truthful” reporting.
As we now know, millions died and fought in all of the major wars misled by distorted truths. But none was so blatantly successful as Hilter's war propaganda machine. Many wars had since been fought using the successful falsehood propaganda model. Yet we continue to allow ourselves to be misled because we do not have conclusive proofs that the news fed to us were indeed distorted truths. The truth did not always matter as the wars were fought in distant land with no immediate direct consequences. In any case, it would be extremely difficult if not impossible to verify what had been reported. Take for instance 911, Iraq's weapons of mass destruction or even the recent killing of Osama Bin Laden by the US Seals on 1 May 2011. I too like billions around the world had been led by the noses and misled by the MSM.
Why am I telling you all these? Because before July 2010, my daily news sources were mainstream media (MSM) like Fox News, CNN, BBC, Bloomberg, Reuters etc. I never paid much attention to the alternative news media or any of the so-called conspiracy theorists. Ten months later, I live my life without the routine daily checking of MSM news. Instead I keep updated through the alternative news media and the various so-called Conspiracy Theorists' blogs. They have all turned out to be more reliable than MSM. This dramatic turn around came about because of the BP's mega oil spill disaster. While I had not been able to verify previous reports by the MSM before, I can now truly state that not only BP did lie so blatantly, BP could not have done so without the subservient cooperation of the MSM.
As a geohazards geophysicist for the last 30 years of my life, preventing geohazards disasters was my profession. My whole life was devoted to it. I started blogging only in July 2010 to inform the world's public the truth. I understand the difficulty of understanding a highly sophisticated and advanced industry. So I only illustrated those that are more easily palatable with pure honesty and logical reasoning. It is very important the world's public understand the truth of the Gulf Disaster. Failure to do so, will mean inviting more disasters in the near future to a coast near you.
Being honest and professional in the industry however can be dangerous to your life. I realised that from the very beginning and had taken extra-ordinary precautions. But I could never imagine the deviousness, deceit, manipulation and corruption of the oil industry until after the Macondo blowout and the ensuing disaster recovery. By 2008, I had thought the deterioration in the oil industry was widespread only in Asia and Africa. But now we know the first world countries fare no better. The recent attempts on my life proved this. If I had not been speaking the truth in all these years, I would have been hauled to court and sued off my pants. Todate, only one drilling company had dared to take me to court. That company (Malaysian Soil Investigation) lost their case after 8 years of lengthy court trials during which even more lies were exposed.
Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely ~ Lord Acton. But oil power corrupts much wider and higher with impunity. Eventually the @!$%# will come back to haunt us. That is the inescapable law of karma.
The safety-data fraud iceberg in the Oil Industry – 30 Oct 2010.
Greedy offshore professionals were no better than prostitutes, selling themselves directly or through body shops to the highest bidder. Naturally, body shops did their best to sell inexperienced or incompetent professionals since they make the best margins on these unmovable products. The active third world exploration countries (Asia, Africa & Middle East) were choked with incompetent or inexperienced professionals who could not enter the exploration workforce in their own countries for lack of credentials. UK was the biggest exporter of such offshore professionals. Experience, unethical practices and improper training gained from the “rough and tumble” exploration of the wild and poorly regulated third world countries, might not be the best. But it is the numbers and years that count, not the quality. Worse, these unethical practices get transferred back to the first world countries in a process called “Reversed Technology Transfer”.
This unhealthy development is one of the many fundamental reasons for the reckless and aggressive competition among exploration and contractors’ managers in a volatile cyclic industry. It is not surprising short term gains and interests override long term sound and safe judgment. In the dog-eat-dog competition, true professionals who refused to yield their professional integrity were quickly edged out by those who would.
Disasters do not occur on a daily basis not because cut-corners and imprudence are not practiced widely but because more than 80% of the exploration locations are in no immediate danger of any geohazards. In the remaining 20% with some geohazards risks, geohazards disasters might not have ripened for explosion yet. As in the BP’s Macondo blowout, the timing is important rather than the luck. Most however, would not wake up to this realty.
"The fools ask the questions the wise cannot answer".
Since day 1 of my career I had been asking lots of questions, my bosses and expert mentors could not answer. I believe if they truly searched for the answers they too would have been disappointed with the oil industry and would have stopped working long time ago. They had often said to me, "I would NOT go into that if I were you". But like a fool I went further. Found the answers and was truly disappointed. Then I thought maybe they were all just misguided. If I just told the truth and educate them, maybe they could see the light. So I tried to educate and change from within. I had been warned it would be dangerous but I guess I had to try or at least die trying.
As oil prices kept climbing higher and the era of cheap oil comes to an end, the last thing the Mafia in the oil industry needs is another independent, honest and professional geohazards geophysicist or any professional who cares too much for the environment, mother nature and the "small people" some of these exploration projects would trample on. Geologically sound and environmentally friendly solutions would not be in their interests.
Safe exploration and prudent oil production is no longer the name of the game especially with the high cost, risky deep water prospects. Notice the emphasis is always on the estimated oil reserves and never on the difficulty, safety risks and high cost of production. If you care to look beneath the media hype, more money can be made in super quick time with a mega disaster than a smooth running oil production. With high cost deep water production, 20-25 years are needed to pay back the investment capital alone. See how much Goldman Sachs, Haliburton and even individuals like Tony Hayward profited from the disaster?
With a disaster, there are no precedents. BP would readily agree to any prices demanded by BP's nominated contractors. From personal experience, contingency measures can cost many times the price of normal routine service even if the operation or equipment are exactly the same. I had been asked many times in the past to revised my costs upwards, several times over what I had thought to be premium prices. Those within the “elite business circle” just love disasters and the “ask no question” prices in the aftermath of any disaster.
There are always kickbacks and definitely lots of discrepancies in the invoiced prices, quantities and quality of the personnel, consumables, equipment, vessels, services and time charges compared to what were actually deployed at site. If all these are still not obvious, consider why 4 drilling rigs/ship with five well drilling capacity were still in the Macondo Prospect after the relief wells were completed in mid September 2010. Were 2 relief wells really necessary? Even if it was, why was there a need to deploy a 3rd drilling vessel with 2 wells-drilling capability?
While other oil companies suffered (having to foot the cost of idling rigs) BP was profiting and enjoying full employment of their contracted rigs; their best "production and profit" for producing "nothing" but just empty promises. But has anybody been counting on site.
By the Numbers to Date: (2010-09-17 Ongoing-administration-wide-response-deepwater-bp-oil-spill
Approximately 25,200 personnel are currently responding to protect the shoreline and wildlife and cleanup vital coastlines.
More than 2,600 vessels are currently responding on site, including skimmers, tugs, barges, and recovery vessels to assist in containment and cleanup efforts—in addition to dozens of aircraft, remotely operated vehicles, and multiple mobile offshore drilling units.
Approximately 670,000 feet of containment boom* and 9.66 million feet of absorbent boom have been deployed to contain the spill—and approximately 2.04 million feet of containment boom are available.
More than 34.7 million gallons of an oil-water mix have been recovered.
Approximately 1.84 million gallons of total dispersant have been applied—1.07 million on the surface and 771,000 sub-sea. Approximately 577,000 gallons are available.
411 controlled burns have been conducted, efficiently removing a total of more than 11.14 million gallons of oil from the open water in an effort to protect shoreline and wildlife. Because calculations on the volume of oil burned can take more than 48 hours, the reported total volume may not reflect the most recent controlled burns.
15 staging areas are in place to protect sensitive shorelines.
Approximately 110 miles of Gulf Coast shoreline is currently experiencing moderate to heavy oil impacts—approximately 99 miles in Louisiana, 9 miles in Mississippi and 2 miles in Florida. Approximately 490 miles of shoreline are experiencing light to trace oil impacts—approximately 226 miles in Louisiana, 90 miles in Mississippi, 60 miles in Alabama, and 114 miles in Florida. These numbers reflect a daily snapshot so that planning and field operations can more quickly respond to new impacts; they do not include cumulative impacts to date, or shoreline that has already been cleared.
Approximately 39,885 square miles of Gulf of Mexico federal waters remain closed to fishing in order to balance economic and public health concerns. Approximately 83 percent is now open. Details can be found at http://sero.nmfs.noaa.gov/.
