
...and the Macondo prospect was known to hold only 50 million barrels. So did BP (or Tony Hayward - CEO and petroleum geology expert PhD) go bonkers when they acquired the MC252 lease on 19 March 2008? Then they blew >$100 million on an "exploratory well" on the Macondo reservoir which was never meticulously mapped and evaluated with new seismic survey data using the latest seismic techniques. Then they skipped the high resolution geohazards survey which is mandatory for identifying precisely the nightmare problems BP had with the 3 wells and the DRILLING RISKS & HAZARDS.
So please tell me, why did BP rush to purchase and then rushed to drill the ill-fated Macondo well, not adhering to all the critical fail-safe industry standard practices?
