JACKSON, Mississippi - The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality through its Beach Monitoring Program this morning issued a precautionary beach closure for all Mississippi beaches.
Debris hazards plus uncertainty about water quality following widespread flooding prompted the closure. The department plans to resume water quality testing when the debris has been cleared. Beaches will open to water contact when results show water quality standards have been met.
